Test Cell Facility at Summit Aviation

Since 2003 Summit Aviation has owned & operated its own CAA Part 145, FAA Approved test cell facility. Located between Gloucester and Cheltenham, the facility is easily accessed by all major rail, road and air links.

The test cell is experienced in both aero and industrial engines with current capability of but not limited to:

  • JT3D (All Series)
  • JT8D-STD (All Series)
  • JT8D-200 Series
  • Rolls Royce Olympus
  • Rolls Royce Avon
  • Rolls Royce M45
  • ALF 502/507

Main Features

Main features of the test bed are:

  • Engine thrust facility over 40,000 lbs.
  • Floor and overhead engine mounting facilities.
  • Silencing and dispersal of exhaust gases through a "Cullum Detuner".
  • The latest comprehensive range of computerised instrumentation & data loggers recording & monitoring parameters.
  • 24 hour operation capability.

Major Redevelopment

N.B. The Test Cell is currently undergoing major redevelopment to increase capability, for which planning consent has been obtained ref: Tewkesbury Borough Council Ref. 15/00691/FUL.
