Its been a long time since we posted, but things certainly have not stopped on site. Summit Aviation signed an ‘Exclusive’ Engine Overhaul GTA with Windrose Aircompany for their Pratt &amp; Whitney JT8D-200 series engines on the 22nd July 2008.

The last week has seen a dramatic change to the inside of the building with the laying of the power floated floor. An amazing process to watch with the concrete being pumped into place by a huge crane/pump, the concrete positioned and tamped by a team of welly wearing workers, and the finish achieved by the use of 3 different bladed machines.

Due to some general hiccups in our plans and the speed in which GSE have progressed the build we have had a slow 5 weeks on site with just fire protection work ongoing to the interior of the building. However we are very pleased to announce that a full team is now back on site with ground works and cladding being the main focus. Today we have been onto the roof as it is complete and the scaffold will be coming down. It is an amazing sight and has been completed extremely quickly.

Friday 25th January saw the completion of the steel structure. The major works in progress now are the cladding of the roof area and bricklaying to the foundations.

Despite the terrible weather of the last few weeks the steel workers, who have worked in some terrible conditions, are still on target to have the frame complete by the end of January.  Today also saw the first of the cladding panels fitted to the roof.

Finally after several delays due to the weather, archaeological finds and design changes the Groundworks for the new building have started.
